Metro players at the L3 – British Minors Championships

This weekend, our talented young judoka from Metros Judo Club took to the mat at the L3 – British Minors Judo Championships in Brentwood. It was an exciting day of competition, with Olivia, Tyra, Ines, Casper, and Jibrael proudly representing the club across different weight categories.

Olivia (U28kg) fought bravely, showing great determination throughout her matches. Although she didn’t secure a win this time, her fighting spirit was evident, and she gained valuable experience for future competitions.

Ines (U40kg) also faced two tough opponents but was unable to come away with a win. Despite this, she showed incredible resilience and will undoubtedly come back stronger in her next challenge.

Tyra (U40kg) was one of the standout performers of the day, making her way all the way to the final. After an impressive run, she secured a silver medal, narrowly missing out on gold to the same opponent she had beaten earlier in the tournament. It was a fantastic achievement and a testament to her skill and determination.

Casper (U30kg) had a mixed day on the mats. After losing his first bout, he entered the bronze medal repechage. He bounced back with a win in his second fight but ultimately fell short in the battle for bronze. His fighting spirit shone through, and he will take valuable lessons from the day.

Jibrael (U38kg) competed with heart and fought well in both of his matches, although he didn’t manage to secure a win this time. His determination was clear, and he will take these experiences forward as he continues to develop his judo skills.

In addition to the players, George, a Metro player himself, was there in a different role as a senior referee. His expertise and leadership added to the professionalism of the event, and it was great to see him representing the club in such a vital capacity.

Overall, it was a day of highs and lows for our Metro’s players, but each athlete showcased their dedication and passion for the sport. We are incredibly proud of their performances and look forward to seeing them continue to grow in future competitions.
